BLACK & VELVET:
THE TOWN HALL WEDDING WITH SKULLS AND STYLE

It's no exaggeration to say I've been excited for Maya and Adams wedding since the day we met. Over a few glasses of wine in a central London wine bar, we discussed their plans for an edgy intimate wedding at The Old Marylebone Town Hall.

Maya and Adam are both fascinating contradictions to modern stereotypes. They became the madly in love couple they are today through years of friendship as members of a successful metal band. Whilst oozing cool and sophisticated, they have surprisingly normal day jobs and are the most welcoming easy to chat to couple.

GETTING READY AT THE HOTEL CAFE ROYAL:

Their wedding day started off at the beautiful Hotel Cafe Royal in London. Note: this is literally the most beautiful hotel I've ever been in! It's all black and gold, moody lighting and stunning decor. I can't even explain how exciting it was to arrive to shoot at such a beautiful venue! I started off by exploring the hotel and particularly Maya and Adam's favourite bar - Ziggys. If you haven't been to Ziggys at the Hotel Cafe Royal, you must! It's the coolest bar, all dedicated to Ziggy Stardust, and the best bit it you get to walk through the beautiful hotel to get there. Mayas room was grand and gorgeous, with a beautiful marble bathroom, an absolute dream to photograph.

THE OLD MARYLEBONE TOWN HALL:

As previously mentioned - these two love birds are rather stylish, and this certainly reflected in their wedding. Maya chose a gorgeous black dress for the big day, and the thing she was most excited about? Pockets! That's right Lady's and Gents, this stunning alternative wedding dress has pockets! When we turned up at the Old Marylebone Town Hall, Adam's wedding outfit was just as epic, in a velvet black suit jacket with intricate detailing. He'd brought some skulls from home and had them decorate the room - a first for the old marylebone Town Hall! Needless to say the registrar was rather impressed!

The ceremony was beautiful and filled with all the right emotions. I loved seeing Maya and Adam walk out onto the icon Old Marylebone Town hall steps in their black and velvet alternative wedding gears. They looked so stunning against the old white building and it was so exciting to photograph them there!

THE IVY:

We proceeded to hail a black cab - in true london style - and head to their reception venue, The Ivy, in London's Soho. The Ivy is the perfect reception venue for an alternative wedding, or any wedding at all! The room was beautiful and conntined the golden dimly lit gatsby aesthetic we'd experienced all day. The speeches were beautiful. The food was insanely delicious. The music was epic and the banter on point, as two people celebrated their love with their closest family and friends.

THE STREETS OF LONDON:

I love staying right to the end of a wedding and capturing every moment. These guys had a late night wander through the streets of London. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking...

Having an alternative wedding? I love a good shindig and would love to be a part of your big day. Drop me a line and let's grab a coffee - or a wine!
