REGISTRY OFFICE WEDDING DRESSES - 6 OF MY FAVOURITE STYLES

Deciding what to wear to your registry office wedding can sometimes be a little tricky. Should you avoid going for a traditional wedding dress? Is it better to keep it simple? Or can you go all out? So, here’s my take on it. As a London wedding photographer, I’ve seen many couples get married at registry offices across London. And I can confirm that there is no such thing as “a rule” to registry office wedding dresses! My brides have worn totally different styles of dresses for their registry office weddings. At the end of the day, what matters the most is that you feel comfortable and confident in it.

I’m going to introduce you to 6 of my favourite registry office wedding dresses from the weddings I’ve shot over the years. I hope this inspires you!

  1. Mini Wedding Dresses

Short wedding dresses are super in right now, as it gives a modern twist to the classical style. I’ve seen many brides opt for short wedding dresses for their versatility too. Getting married at a registry office most likely means that you’ll be moving venues, and full-length wedding dresses can be a logistical nightmare sometimes. This is where short wedding dresses come in! You’ll still feel like a bride while eliminating the stress that comes with getting into cars and moving around the city in traditional length wedding dresses.

2. Black Wedding Dresses

Who said your wedding dress must be white? Registry offices generally feature neutral interior and exterior, so wearing a black wedding dress will make such a statement. If you’re planning to have an alternative wedding, this is a great way to add that wow factor. Maya rocked this look at the Old Marylebone Town Hall!

3. Ball Gown Wedding Dresses

Now, here is a very classic style, where the wedding dress is fitted at the bodice and flares out at the waist. It’s that silhouette we dreamt of as little girls when we imagined what we’d look like on our wedding day! If your registry office wedding is the main event, I think that it’s worth investing in a dress like this to make an impact.

4. Long Train Wedding Dresses

These types of dresses are one of my favourite options for registry office wedding dresses. Why you may ask? Well, it’s because they picture so beautifully when you’re walking up the stairs to the venue entrance. Registry offices generally have a stunning set of stairs leading up to the entrance – this is also where the confetti throw happens! Take a look at Bre and Catherine, who wore this type of dress in the pictures below!

5. Long Sleeve Wedding Dresses

Here’s a great choice if you wanting to go for more conservative registry office wedding dresses, or if you’re planning to have an Autumn/Winter wedding. Not only are you able to get that extra coverage, but depending on the design, you can also find very sexy numbers with these types of dresses, especially those that are floral lace embroidered!

6. Silk Wedding Dresses

And last but not least… if you’re in love with minimalistic, contemporary style, slip dresses are my absolute fave! As we all know, sometimes less is more. Paired with your favourite jewellery and a pair of white, silver or nude heels, you’ll have such an effortless but elegant look. I love that it can be dressed up or down, and how easy it is to incorporate accessories to express your personality.
