5 GREAT LOCATIONS FOR A LONDON ENGAGEMENT SHOOT
So, you're engaged - congrats! You've found a photographer - woohoo! And now you need to decide where to have your pre - wedding / engagement shoot. Well, London is an amazing place to have an engagement shoot. There are so many cute alleyways, epic historic buildings and scenic parks, here are a few of my favourites:
ST PAULS
St Pauls is one of my favourite buildings in London. Not only is it an iconic landmark in this amazing city, but it’s also the most beautiful church. From the classic doors, which are so much bigger than they look! To the gorgeous baroque pillars, there are so many great spots for an engagement shoot. If you go on a Sunday morning, the city’s a little less busy and we had no problem getting space for these images.
2. ST DUNSTAN IN THE EAST
This is the golden ticket of London’s hidden Gems! St Dunstan in the East is a stunning church garden of ruins and greenery, which is open to the public for free! In amongst the London business district, it’s a surprising oasis of beauty. I love doing engagement shoots here as there is so much to it. So many beautiful arches, old fashioned window frames and gorgeous greenery overgrowing the old ruins. This scenery gives texture and depth to your photographs and is one of my favourite spots in London for an engagement shoot.
3. SOMERSET HOUSE
As previously mentioned with St Pauls, I love a good London landmark. Fortunately there are a fair few in this epic city and Somerset House is one of the most beautiful. Check the opening times, but when open, it’s totally free to walk through the beautiful courtyards. These lovely open spaces provide an epic backdrop for an engagement shoot. There are gorgeous lines of symmetry and stunning features to be found. Did I mention the fountains?! If you’re not convinced yet, the Somerset House fountains will seal the deal as they are as gorgeous as they are fun!
4. MILLENIUM BRIDGE
All Londoners know this footbridge has the best views of London. Looking down to gorgeous St Pauls (so easy to combine the two locations!) it’s a truly lovely spot for an engagement shoot. I do suggest going early in the morning - again on a Sunday is best - as it does get rather crowded, and to get that epic shot you really need to stand right in the middle of the bridge dodging the swarms of tourists. If you can get there early, it’s absolutely worth it!!
5. TOWER BRIDGE
My final suggestion is the iconic masterpiece that is, Tower Bridge. There are multiple spots you can go for lovely views of the bridge. My favourite, however is on the island in the middle of the road! Yes - it’s perfectly safe (as long as you stay on the island) and it gives you the option to capture something like the final image here. the colours are beautiful and Tower Bridge gives you, as a couple some gorgeous images of your time in London together.
If it isn’t apparent by not, I love this city and I love engagement shoots in it! There are so many epic places, textured backdrops and I just love exploring and finding new ones every time. If you’re up for a London engagement shoot, I’d love to hear from you!
More engagement shoots coming soon!
