5 REASONS TO HAVE AN ENGAGEMENT SHOOT - AND WHERE TO HAVE IT!
'Engagement shoot' sounds super cheesy and may make you think of awkward 90s style couple photos which only make you cringe. But never fear! Modern couple shoots are here! These days they're a really fun way to get comfortable in front of the camera and create some relaxed professional quality photographs you will love forever. Here are 5 reasons you should have an engagement shoot with photographs from Dom and Vy’s central London engagement session.
IT’S GREAT PRACTICE FOR THE BIG DAY!
You only get married once, and those photographs will become the memories that last a lifetime. Being comfortable in front of the camera takes practice, and an engagement shoot is the perfect time to do exactly that - practice. As your photographer, this is my chance to figure out what works and what doesn't - every couple's different! It then makes it easy for me to get the most out of the time we have on your wedding day.
2. YOU GET TO KNOW YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
…and they get to know you! A big part of creating epic wedding photos, is having a comfortable, trusting relationship between myself and my couples. Having a couple of hours to explore the chosen location together and get some good banter goingakes such a difference in how the big day runs and achieving a relaxed look in your wedding photos. It's also super fun, I love meeting like-minded people and hearing all about your wedding plans, your love story and what you're watching on Netflix.
3. YOU GET SOME AWESOME PHOTOS OF YOURSELVES!
Who doesn't want a little extra content for the gram? These are photos your parents and friends will love, it's not often you get professional photos taken!
4. YOU CAN USE THEM ON YOUR WEDDING INVITES!
Lots of my couples use their engagement session photographs on their invites. It's a really nice way to personalise them - why not?! There are also so many ways to use your engagement photos in your wedding day itself. Lots of my couples have a photo board at their wedding or little pictures scattered around the venue. I’ve even had the photographs printed onto wine labels when a couple who owned a winery made their own wine for their wedding! It gave that special personal touch to their day!
5. IT'S A CHANCE TO DOCUMENT SOMETHING SPECIAL.
I always tell my couples to pic a location for the shoot that's special to them. Maybe it's where you got engaged or where you first met. Maybe you're in a band and I photograph you playing music together or we go to your favourite coffee shop. Whatever the case, it's a chance to get some beautiful photographs which are special to you.
